Thundery showers
Slight frost tonight

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 28th April 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Heavy, thundery showers and feeling cold

A cold day ahead especially where there is cloud and rain. Most of the rain, which could be heavy and thundery at times, will be across Wales, southwest, central and southern England. Heavy showers across southern Scotland and the far northeast England, the risk of thunderstorms here. Probably brighter in western Scotland and much of the north and west of Ireland.

Staying cloudy and damp in southern England this afternoon, the risk of some heavy showers or rain. Further showers in Wales and the Midlands. Tending to be drier over eastern coasts of England with some sunny spells, although showers affecting high ground of the Pennines. Further showers and some cloud in southern and eastern Scotland. Scattered showers in Ireland. Staying chilly, breezy in the south.

The showers are likely to be fading through this evening. Skies become clear and the winds become lighter too. A few showers affecting eastern Scotland as wel as the coasts of northeast England. A frost forming in parts of the Midlands and western England, mich of Scotland and sheltered areas of Ireland. A lower frost risk in the east.
