A cold day for the UK and Ireland as a pair of cold fronts clear south early this morning. A brisk northerly wind follows bringing bright but very cold conditions for the time of year. Wintry showers affect Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as exposed coastal parts of England, Ireland and Wales. It will feel bitterly cold in the northerly wind.

A pair of cold fronts clear southern England this morning taking patchy outbreaks of rain with them. A widespread frost and ice patches are expected. Cloud lingers a little longer over southern coastal areas. A cold, brisk northerly flow follows behind these fronts bringing a breezy but bright day for many. Frequent wintry showers affect Scotland, Northern Ireland and northeast England during the morning.

Cloud holds on over the far southwest of England and over much of Ireland through Monday afternoon. Showers continue to affect many but are most frequent over northern, northwestern and eastern coastal areas. Many inland areas stay dry with good spells of sunshine. Winds stay strong and it will feel bitingly cold where you're exposed to the breeze.

Little change into Monday evening though cloud should start to recede from Ireland and the southwest to give some late sunshine here. Elsewhere showers continue over coastal regions and these will be wintry.
