Frosty start

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 12th April 2021
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Sunny to the north and east but cloudy and damp further south and west.

A frosty yet bright start for many although cloudier skies and some patchy light rain will affect Wales, southwest England as well as Northern Ireland and Ireland. Cloud will soon build across parts of England too. Wintry showers are expected down eastern coasts. Best of the dry and sunny conditions will be across Scotland and northern parts of England.

The afternoon will see England become brighter but with some showers developing in places. Wales as well as Ireland and Northern Ireland will continue to see more in the way of cloud with patchy light rain/ drizzle about. Wintry showers continue to affect mainly eastern coasts of England and Scotland. Staying largely dry and sunny across Scotland.

A largely dry night with clear skies across England. Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland will see more cloud cover with patchy light rain and drizzle about, clearing much of Ireland through the early hours. Clear skies initially across Scotland but cloud will soon thicken and patchy rain will push into far western areas. Drier elsewhere here. Frost developing across northern and eastern areas.
