Morning Call - April 09, 2021
Cloud, rain south
Bright but cold for many

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 9th April 2021
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A cold front sinks very slowly southward over southern parts of Ireland and the UK on Friday with patchy outbreaks of rain lingering for much of the day for some. Elsewhere a cool northerly airflow brings brighter skies but with showers for northern coasts and hills. Some of these showers will be rather wintry.

Good Morning,

A cold, bright start to the day for northern England, Scotland and across much of Ireland with a frost expected here. Showers too affecting northern areas, some of these will be wintry. Milder but cloudy to start across much of England and Wales as well as southern Ireland. Outbreaks of rain intially affecting the far south of Ireland, south Wales and the Midlands. These moving very slowly south throughout the morning.

Cloud and rain moves very slowly further south into southern England and clearing the far south of Ireland during the afternoon. Brighter, colder conditions continue over northern areas with a scattering of showers here - these predominantly over northern coasts and hills but a few filter further inland. Cold in the north with highs of just 3 or 4C here. Milder under the cloud and rain at 10 or 11C. More widely we'll see highs of 6 to 8C.

Through Friday evening we should see rain become lighter and more patchy across southern England and Wales though it will stay quite cloudy here. Showers continue over northern areas but most areas will be dry with plenty of clear skies allowing temperatures to drop quickly as the sun goes down.

Have a good day!

Claire
