Morning Call - May 01, 2021
Chilly
Sunshine & showers

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 1st May 2021
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

It's another day of sunshine and showers for the UK and Ireland today with showers really getting going through the afternoon. Some will be locally very heavy while some will be thundery with the potential for hail. Showers fade into the evening leaving a fine end to the day for many.

Good Morning,

It's a rather chilly but mostly dry and bright start to the day across the UK and Ireland. A patchy frost first thing for some more sheltered spots as well as the odd isolated mist or fog patch but these should burn off quickly as the sun rises. Occasional showers around too - these mainly over Scotland and coastal regions of England and Ireland.

Showers become more widespread and heavier as we go into Saturday afternoon. Some of these will locally be thundery with some hail. The heaviest showers expected over eastern and southern Ireland, the southwest UK, the Pennines and over higher ground in Scotland where they may also be wintry in nature.

As we head into Saturday evening showers fade from most areas with just the odd shower lingering over coastal areas to the north and west. Cloud thickens to the northwest with the best of the evening sun to the south and east.

Have a good day!

Claire
