A cold weekend with a risk of ground frost, then a dry start to next week

Cold weather as we head into the end of the week and the weekend. There is a risk of some wintry showers over the hills of Scotland later in the week. A risk of some ground frosts over the weekend. Dry to start next week although some hints of things turning more unsettled towards the middle of the week.

Friday 3/5/19
The cold front will be clearing south through the rest of Ireland and the southern UK on Friday. The front has little more than broken cloud and some showers along it by then. Much brighter, colder weather follows behind the front, although there will be showers in northern and eastern Scotland as well as some blowing into eastern England. The showers could be wintry over the Grampians and northern Highlands. Scattered showers to the west. Feeling cold for all, but very cold along eastern coasts. Highs at 6 to 12C.


Saturday 4/5/19
High pressure to the west of Ireland on Saturday bringing a cold north to northwest flow and the risk of a morning ground frost to the west. There is a risk of some showers in the north and east of Scotland and eastern England where it will be feeling cold. Brighter and drier to the west of sunny spells and an isolated shower. Highs at 7 to 12C.
 


Sunday 5/5/19
High pressure brings another chilly start to the day with a risk of a ground frost. Mostly fair with sunny spells, although some patchy rain affects northern Scotland, a few showers along eastern coasts of England. Highs at 9 to 13C.

 
 
 


Holiday Monday 6/5/19
Pressure remains high on Monday;. This brings a chilly start to the day with a touch of frost. There will be good spells of sunshine for many, although a weak front could give rain in northern and western Scotland. Temperatures at 7 to 13C.


Tuesday 7/5/19
Fronts may slip south on Tuesday although pressure stays high. There will be some coud and a few showers associated with the front, most of this affecting the north and east. Brighter to the south and west. Highs at 8 to 13C.

Wednesday 8/5/19
Lower pressure may be to the south of Ireland with a front pushing north bringing rain to Ireland and the far south of the UK. Some rain too in Scotland. Fair elsewhere with broken cloud. Highs 7C in the far north of Scotland, 12 to 16C elsewhere.
