A mixed week then mostly dry at the weekend, but with overnight frosts

A mixed week ahead with showers and a tendency to become colder as well in the second half of the week. Pressure is going to be rising into the weekend and this should bring some fair weather for the Bank Holiday. It is likely to be chilly with overnight frost as the high pressure builds, although daytime temperatures turning milder later in the weekend.

Thursday 2/5/19
Fronts across Scotland and Ireland on Thursday bringing bursts of rain and a fair amount of cloud. Some showers developing over England and Wales, a few of them heavy with a risk of thunder. Colder weather arrives into northern Scotland as rain pushes south. Becoming brighter in the far north of Scotland, Shetland and Orkney too with a few showers. Highs at 7C in the far north of Scotland, 17C in southeast England.


Friday 3/5/19
A cool day in the northerly winds on Friday. There will be sunny spells but also some showers in northern and eastern areas. A cold front clearing southern coasts in the morning, giving some showery rain here for a time. Tops at 6C in northern Scotland, 14C in southwest England.
 


Saturday 4/5/19
Higher pressure on Saturday bringing a fair day. It may be a chilly start but then most of the day will be dry with good spells of sunshine for most. However, east Anglia and southeast England may still see some showers. Highs around 7 to 12C.

 
 
 


Sunday 5/5/19
The area of high pressure continues to bring fair weather on Sunday. It may be a chilly start again, although with a few showers in northeast Scotland. Highs near 10 to 16C.


Holiday Monday 6/5/19
Fronts passing through Ireland and into northern and western Scotland on Monday. This brings cloud and some spots of drizzle. Dry for all other areas with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 12 to 18C.

Tuesday 7/5/19
Fronts passing into Ireland and western Scotland on Tuesday bringing cloud and rain. Dry for most other areas with some sunny spells. Highs at 13 to 20C.
