Dull and damp eastern areas

High pressure will be centred toward the north during much of the week ahead, with easterly winds prevailing across the British Isles. This brings cool air, a lot of cloud, and areas of rain or drizzle, focused toward the east, whilst northwestern areas will fare best for sunshine.

A zone of rain is expected to lie across central England and Wales, and may persist over many hours locally. Overcast skies for many central and eastern districts. Dry for much of Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland. Best sunshine in western Scotland. Cool east, milder west; highs 7 to 14C.

Wednesday 10/04/19
Cloudy skies, rain or drizzle is likely to affect central and eastern England again, with some patchy rain extending westwards into Wales on an easterly breeze. Feeling cool. Best sunshine toward the northwest. Top temperatures 7 to 12C.

A continued cool easterly pattern, likely to bring a lot of cloud, plus patchy rain or drizzle to eastern coastal counties. A little rain may also affect the southwest. Dry with sunshine for northwestern areas. Highs 7 to 11C.

Little change to the overall pattern, with easterly winds, a lot of cloud and a risk of rain or drizzle in the east. Driest and brightest toward the west. Highs 7 to 11C.

Saturday 13/04/19
East or southeast winds are expected to continue, with a lot of cloud again, plus some drizzly rain toward the east. Largely dry and bright west. Highs 9 to 12C.

Sunday 14/04/19
Fronts may begin to edge in from the southwest, brings a possible slow change of pattern, and south to southeasterly winds. Highs 10 to 13C.
