Staying unsettled through the weekend

Heavy rain through midweek is likely to bring flooding to western parts of Britain. The outlook stays unsettled with low pressure in charge through the weekend. The start of November is expected to turn colder as winds move round to the north, with scope for showers to become wintry over the hills.

Friday 29/10/21
Rain moves south and east across central areas during the morning, weakening as it does so, leaving some light rain and dampness across the Midlands and southeast. A drier but cloudy day for northern and western areas, although showers will return to the west and southwest. Some heavy rain possibly moving across southeast England later in the day. Highs of 10 to 15C for most areas, with the highest temperatures across central and southern England.


Saturday 30/10/21
Spells of rain push east across Ireland, with showers possible on western coasts of England and Wales, especially during the morning. These should fade out later in the morning, with a dry but cloudy afternoon for many areas as the winds turn southerly. Highs of 12 to 15C across southern areas, highs of 7 to 11C across the north and west.
 


Sunday 31/10/21
Rain pushes in from the west across most of England and Wales on Sunday, with some heavy bursts possible as it pushes north and east. A breezy day for most parts, with rain arriving in Scotland during the evening. Risk of gales in the south and southwest. Cooler for most, with temperatures of 8 to 13C across the board.
 


Monday 1/11/21
A breezy day as low pressure stays in control across the country, with spells of rain or showers possible anywhere, although some eastern areas will stay completely dry. A few cloud breaks possible where it stays dry. Temperatures of 9 to 11C across England and Wales, 5 to 8C further north.

Tuesday 2/11/21
A cooler day likely as the winds turn northerly. A sunny day with a few showers possible, mainly around the coasts, most frequent northern Scotland, which may fall as snow over higher ground. Feeling cold with a strong breeze, particularly across Scotland. Highs of 8 to 10C in the south, 5 to 8C across Scotland.

Wednesday 3/11/21
A dry and clear day for many central and southern areas. Showers most frequent in areas exposed to the northerly wind, with sleet or snow over the hills. Temperatures of 8 to 10C in the south, 4 to 8C in the north.
