Some chilly nights, morning fog patches

High pressure will be nearby through the week ahead bringing quieter weather than recently. Feeling cooler early in the week, but temperatures will be fairly mild by day for most places through midweek.

Sunday 10/10/21
High pressure will be situated to the southwest, whilst a weakening cold front passes southeastwards over England and Wales through the day. This will bring cloudy skies and perhaps a little light rain for a time. Brighter skies follow. Some sun ahead of this front in the south and southeast. A few showers for north and western Scotland with a brisk westerly breeze here. Southeastern areas still quite warm, up to 19C, but it feel cooler for the north and west, nearer 13C.


Monday 11/10/21
High pressure influences the British Isles, bringing a fair day to England, Wales and southern Ireland, variable cloud and some sunshine, best toward the south and southeast. Fronts trail across Scotland bringing outbreaks of rain and a few showers, most frequent in the north and west. Possible showers for Northern Ireland. A keen west to northwest breeze for northern and eastern regions, lighter winds toward the southwest of Britain. A cool start, highs 11 to 16C.


Tuesday 12/10/21
High pressure expands across the country and previous fronts will tend to break up. A legacy of cloud for some areas may produce a local light shower, but most places will be dry. Light winds for most, although a northerly breeze will feel cool on eastern coasts. Some morning mist and fog in low-lying areas, starting chilly enough for a slight ground frost in sheltered valleys. Feeling pleaseant where sun breaks through in the afternoon. Daytime highs 13 to 17C.


Wednesday 13/10/21
High pressure stays toward the south, bringing continued fair weather for most of the country. Some morning fog, starting cool again in rural areas. Sunshine and variable cloud into the afternoon. Light winds for England & Wales. A fresher southwesterly breeze for north and western Scotland, fairly cloudy here. Highs 13 to 18C.

Thursday 14/10/21
Staying fair across many areas, with some morning mist then sunshine breaking through. Light winds in the south, a fresher southwesterly breeze for Scotland and Ireland, perhaps some rain in the northwest. Fairly mild, highs 13 to 18C.

Friday 15/10/21
High pressure may well hold on toward the south, whilst some rain and brisker winds may move in across northern areas, although much uncertainty. Highs 12 to 17C.
