Mainly dry northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, some rain to the far south, cool

The weather tends to become quieter into the weekend and next week. Broken cloud and some sunny spells for most, although a tendency for lower pressure to the south of Ireland. This brings rain into southern Ireland and the far south of England. An easterly flow tending to become established on a few days leading to cool conditions, especially in the east. Scotland and northern England as wel as Northern Ireland seeing very little rain. Hints of the weather turning more unsettled by the weekend.

Monday 4/5/20
High pressure north of Scotland on Monday. An easterly flow brings broken cloud and some showers to England and Wales. Cloudier skies in the far southwest of England and the far south of Ireland. Western parts of Scotland, western England and west Wales should become drier and brighter during the day. Dry and bright in Northern Ireland too. Feeling chilly where exposed to the moderate east wind in the south. Highs at 9C in northeast Scotland, but more widely 17 to 19C away from eastern coasts.


Tuesday 5/5/20
High pressure is off eastern Scotland on Tuesday. Lower pressure is to the southwest of Ireland and a front lies somewhere through southern Ireland and the far south of England. This may bring a wet day to the far south of Ireland, southern Wales and southern counties of England. Rain edges slowly north, but becomes more patchy. Dry in northern pats of Ireland, northern England and Scotland. Best sunshine in the west, cooler in the east. Highs at just 9C on eastern coasts, but 16C in Ireland and southern England.


Wednesday 6/5/20
The area of high pressure remains east of Scotland on Wednesday. The remains of the front through Ireland, Wales and southwest England bringing some patchy rain. Fair in more northern areas although still some broken cloud here. Best of the sunshine in more western areas. Highs at 9C in on eastern coasts, 14C in the southwest.
 


Thursday 7/5/20
The area of high pressure off eastern areas of the UK. Lower pressure west of Ireland bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain. Drier for other areas with the cloud being more broken and allowing for some sunny spells. Highs at a milder 13 to 16C.


Friday 8/5/20
Pressure is likely to be staying high on Friday east of the UK. Weak fronts in the west bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle in Ireland. Some sunny spells in the east. Highs at 13 to 20C in the east, 18C in the west.

Saturday 9/5/20
Perhaps more unsettled on Saturday with fronts edging east bringing outbreaks of rain. Most of the rain will be in the west. Highs at 12 to 16C.
