Plenty of dry weather, but increased cloud and spots of drizzle in northern areas, less cold later

High pressure builds through the country bringing plenty of dry weather. There will be some showers at times, mostly in northern areas. A general increase in cloud amounts towards the end of the week and into the weekend with the risk of some drizzle or patchy rain at times, mostly in northern and western areas. Temperatures becoming warmer later this week after a cold start.

Thursday 14/5/20
High pressure is west of Ireland on Thursday. A weak front brings some cloud southwards through Scotland with some drizzle over northern coasts. Fair for most areas with sunny spells and dry conditions, the best of these in the south. Cloud tending to increase in northern England during the day. Highs at 14 or 15C in southern England, 11C in northern Scotland.


Friday 15/5/20
High pressure remains over western Ireland on Friday, affecting the whole of the UK. Cloud and some spots of rain in northern Scotland and Eastern England. Brighter in western areas with bright or sunny spells developing. Highs at 12 to 16C.

 
 
 


Saturday 16/5/20
High pressure staying over southern areas of the UK on Saturday. There will be plenty of dry weather but some bright spells too. Thickest of the cloud in northern and western areas. Highs at 20C in southeastern areas, 12C in northwest Scotland.

 
 
 


Sunday 17/5/20
High pressure over southern areas on Sunday. Cloud and outbreaks of rain in Scotland and Ireland, most of it in the west. Dry and bright in southern areas, warmer too. Highs at 12C in western Scotland, 18 to 21C in most areas.


Monday 18/5/20
High pressure to the south of the country on Monday. Weak fronts may affect northern areas bringing some cloud and outbreaks of drizzle and patchy rain over northern and western coasts and hills. Highs at 12C in western Scotland, 21C in southeast England.

Tuesday 19/5/20
High pressure stays dominant on Tuesday. There will be bright or sunny spells for most. Increased cloud in western areas with some drizzle affecting western and southern coasts of Ireland. Highs at 14 to 21C.
