Temperatures recovering, cool on eastern coasts

A cold northerly airflow affects the country this weekend, bringing frost and some wintry showers. High pressure stays nearby into next week, so expect a lot of dry weather again. Temperatures will tend to lift slowly, but not as warm as the current time.

Dry for most places through the day with slack high pressure in charge. A few showers possible for Scotland and Northern Ireland with more cloud here. Sunshine and broken cloud for England and Wales. Light winds, typically northwesterlies across northern Britain. A chilly start with frost in many rural areas. Highs up to 11 to 14C.
 

Wednesday 13/05/20
High pressure stays positioned to the northwest of the UK, with mostly dry weather. Localised showers may break out for Scotland, and local brief showers near some eastern coasts too. A freshening easterly breeze is likely across southern England. Sunshine and warmth best in the west. Feeling cool near eastern coasts. Highs from 9 to 15C.
 

Thursday 14/05/20
High pressure continues to influence the country, maintaining settled weather into Thursday. A chance of very isolated showers, mainly for northern Scotland. An easterly breeze continues in the south. Best of the sunshine to the west once again. Highs 11 to 15C, warmest in the west of Wales and England to the lee of high ground.
 

Friday 15/05/20
An north to northeasterly breeze prevails with high pressure to the west. Generally dry. Sunniest in the west. A chance of isolated showers developing over north-facing coasts and hills. Highs from 10 to 15C.

Saturday 16/05/20
Slack pressure is likely to affect the country on Saturday. Mainly dry, with a chance of isolated showers, and some good spells of sunshine. Highs ranging from 9 to 14C.

Sunday 17/05/20
Pressure possibly lowering into Sunday bringing more in the way of cloud and more frequent showers. Outbreaks of rain possible for northern Scotland. Highs at 8 to 16C.
