Plenty of dry weather, but some patchy rain in the north, windy Friday and Saturday

A mixed week ahead with strong winds and some showers on Friday. Staying breezy into the weekend, feeling fresher to the north and west, but warm in the south and southeast. Next week sees very little rain, if any for many. Patchy rain in the north and west and a fair amount of cloud at times.

Saturday 23/5/20
Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Saturday. Heavy rain affects centra and northern Scotland as well as severe gales. Fresher and brighter in England, Wales and Ireland, although there will be a scattering of showers, mostly for Wales and western areas. Further scattered showers in Ireland, gales in the north of Ireland with outbreaks of rain at times. The best sunshine in southern England. Highs at a cold 9C in central Scotland, 20C in southeast England.


Sunday 24/5/20
Fronts affecting northern England, Ireland and Scotland on Sunday bringing plenty of cloud and some rain, mostly to western areas, The rain more patchy in the east with a higher chance of some sunny spells here. Variable cloud in southern areas, certainly more sunny spells under higher pressure. Highs at 14 to 17C overall, 21C in the southeast.
 


Monday 25/5/20
High pressure to the south on Monday brings a fair day to most of England and Wales. Staying sunny in southern Ireland too. Cloud over the rest of Ireland and much of Scotland, a few bits of drizzle affecting western Scotland. Highs at 25C in southeast England, 13C in western Scotland.
 


Tuesday 26/5/20
A front passing through Scotland and Ireland brings outbreaks of rain, mostly in the west. Drier in eastern Scotland and through most of England and Wales as well as eastern and southern Ireland. A few breaks in the cloud allowing for some bright spells. Highs at 27C in southeast England, more widely 20 to 23C in any sunshine and 12C in western Scotland.


Wednesday 27/5/20
Weak fronts affecting northern areas of Wednesday bringing some cloud and a few spots of light rain. Drier in the south although with broken cloud. Further broken cloud in Scotland too, the best sunshine in the east. Highs at 21C in the south, generally 14 to 17C.

Thursday 28/5/20
A ridge of high pressure persists in England, Wales and southern Ireland bringing dry weather with sunny spells. Fronts may give rain to the northern half of Ireland and western Scotland, a few spots of northwest England too. Drier and brighter to the east. Highs at 23C in southern areas, 12C in northern Scotland.
