Very warm start, drizzle north and west, more mixed and cooler weekend

A warm spell of weather for many this week, perhaps very warm int the south and southeast. Drizzle and patchy rain in Scotland and Ireland. Dry for much of England and Wales, sunny spells here. Turning more unsettled for the north and west by the end of the week, perhaps windier for a time. Becoming cooler before drier weather returns next week.

Thursday 21/5/20
A shallow area of low pressure clears east into the North Sea on Thursday. This takes showery outbreaks of rain with it. Following to the west will be drier weather with sunny spells. Highs at 22C in southeast England, turning cooler to the west at 15C.


Friday 22/5/20
An area of low pressure passes northwest of Scotland on Friday. A front takes some showery bursts of rain east through much of the country, most of the rain in northwest Scotland. Brighter weather follows from the west and it turns cooler. A windy day. Highs at 21C in the southeast, becoming 15 to 17C from the west.
 


Saturday 23/5/20
A southwest flow affects all parts of the UK and Ireland on Saturday. Showers affecting western coasts and hills, these turning more persistent in western Scotland. Fewer showers in the east and mostly dry to the south. Highs at 12C in northwest Scotland, 21C in southern England.
 


Sunday 24/5/20
High pressure building to the south of the UK again on Sunday. This brings dry conditions to most areas, with some good spells of sunshine in the east. Drizzle and low cloud affecting western coasts and hills. Highs at 22C in eastern areas 16C in the west.


Monday 25/5/20
High pressure stays to the south on Monday. A fair day with sunny spells in England and Wales, the best of it in the east. Cloud and some showery spots of rain affecting western Scotland and Ireland, where it will be breezier too. Highs at 24C in southern England, 17C in northwest Scotland.

Tuesday 26/5/20
Higher pressure remains through Tuesday. This should bring a dry day to most with sunny spells in the east and south. Lower cloud could affect western coasts and hills bringing a few spots of drizzle. Highs at 16 to 25C.
