Air from the south brings rising temperatures
Some rain and drizzle affects the northwest of Britain and Ireland this week. Otherwise, a lot of dry weather again in the week ahead. Becoming increasingly warm as the prevailing breeze switches back to the south.

Wednesday 20/05/20 A gentle southerly airflow will maintain warm and dry conditions for many into midweek with plenty of sunshine across England & Wales. Cloudier for Scotland and Ireland, with a little drizzly rain locally, but amounts small. Light winds and a coastal sea breeze in the south and east. High temperatures range from 16 to 25C.
Thursday 21/05/20 Thursday sees the arrival of a frontal system from the southwest which brings rain, sometimes heavy and thundery, into Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales as well as northwestern parts of England. Some patchy rain may reach southeastern England later. Sunny spells and showers follow the rain from the west. Highs at 15 to 24C, warmest to the southeast.
Friday 22/05/20 Detail is a little uncertain at this time, but the arrival of an ex-tropical storm may bring heavy, thundery outbreaks of rain into southern parts of the UK. Elsewhere a southwesterly flow brings a mixed day of sunny spells, showers and outbreaks of rain. Rain maily confined to western coasts and hills. Highs at just 13 to 21C.
Saturday 23/05/20 Residual rain clears to the east to leave another mixed day for the UK and Ireland with scattered showers and spells of sunshine. Showers most frequent over western coasts and hills; drier and brighter to the east. Highs 13 to 20C.
Sunday 24/05/20 Sunday may see a ridge of higher pressure build across the British Isles bringing a mostly dry and bright day. Some broken cloud around over western areas with the best of the sun to the east. Highs ranging from 14 to 19C.
Monday 25/05/20 Monday may see high pressure get squeezed to the southeast as fronts arrive from the Atlantic bringing outbreaks of rain to northwestern parts of the country. Staying dry and bright to the southeast. Highs at 15 to 22C.
