Freezing fog across central and southern England may persist. Areas of snow in northern Scotland, the Borders and pushing into northeast England. Risk of showers near coasts in west Wales and locally southwest England, snow over modest hills, rain or sleet at sea level. Also an increasing risk that showers over the English Channel push into Kent and Sussex, may give a period of snow by the evening. Most inland areas dry with light winds. Highs -1 to 3C.

Sunday night
Risk of snow continuing to affect Kent and East Sussex. Freezing fog extensive over the Midlands, south and east of England, also eastern parts of Wales. Clearer toward the west and north, but some fog in the valleys. Scotland mostly clear, allowing temperatures to fall sharply again. Extensive hard frost. Snow showers possible near the northwest coast of Scotland. A few flurries for northeast England. Falling to -2 to -5C widely, lower if clear, below -10C Highland Scotland.

Monday
Freezing fog across much of England and Wales may well last all day. Widespread frost and temperatures staying near or below freezing point. Sunshine toward west Wales and some southwestern coasts. Hilly areas of northern England likely to poke out of the fog. Scotland may see some fog patches, but more in the way of sun. Local snow flurries around eastern coasts. Risk showers too for eastern Northern Ireland. Mostly little wind. Highs -1 to 3C.

Tuesday
Staying very cold, with hard frost following very low overnight temperatures, especially in northern areas. Snow showers and flurries focused on eastern Scotland and northeast England. Areas of freezing fog for central & northern England and Wales. A brisk easterly wind in the south will feel bitter. Possibly some sleet or hill snow pushing into southwestern areas, rain near to coasts. Temperatures staying near or below freezing in the north, 2 to 5C south.
