Christmas Day
Low pressure drifts off to the north of Scotland on Christmas Day. Southern England is likely to be overcast with the risk of some patchy rain across parts of the SE of England for a time. Southern Scotland into northern England and Northern Ireland are likely to see outbreaks of rain while frequent and widespread showers affect much of Wales and southwest England. Snow showers pushihng on to northern Scotland later. Otherwise, elsewhere expect dry conditions with sunny intervals. Highs at a reasonably mild 7 to 11C.

Christmas Day Night
A clear and largely dry night for the north and west, though wintry showers look to push on to the Highlands region. Turning cold with frost and ice expected to develop here. Cloudier with patchy rain across Wales and much of central and southern England. Lows 0 to -3C in the north, 3 to 8C in the south.
 

Boxing Day
A chilly start for many on Boxing Day with a frost and ice risk expected in the north. Starting rather cloudy with some rain across southern and southeast England before clearing and brighter conditions soon come about thanks to a ridge of higher pressure building in through the day. A mix of rain, sleet and snow showers across NW England and Snowdonia with more frequent and heavier snow showers to western Scotland pushing into some central and eastern areas. Otherwise, mostly dry and bright though a cooler feeling day for all. Highs at 3 to 7C.

Tuesday
A cold start with perhaps some frost about, though many in the north and west are likely to wake to a wet Tuesday as outbreaks of rain will be pushing in from the west along with brisk and blustery winds. Rain likely to fall as snow over higher ground in the north, perhaps wintry to lower levels for some for a time. Much of central and southern England starting dry before rain moves in, albeit turning patchy, as the day progresses. Highs soon rising to at 6 to 11C.
