Holiday Tuesday
A chilly start to Tuesday with a widespread frost across much of the country. Rain in Ireland in the morning soon pushing into western Wales and southwest Scotland by daybreak. The rain then spreads through Scotland, northern England and Wales with widespread low cloud and some drizzle across central and eastern England and Wales as well as along southern coasts of England. Snow for the hills of Scotland too. Northern Scotland stays dry until evening as drier weather reaches northern and western Ireland. Highs at 3C in northern Scotland 10C in southern England.

Tuesday Night
Heavy rain for parts of England and Wales this evening, sleet and snow over the hills of Scotland. Rain becomes lighter in southern England but tends to last for most of the night with low cloud and drizzle shrouding hills and coasts. Further rain in southwestwest England and southern Ireland by dawn. Lows at 3 to 8C for most.
 

Wednesday
Low pressure west of Ireland drives fronts eastwards on Wednesday. This brings some heavy periods of rain and strong winds. A risk of some localised flooding in places, although rain should clear from central and northern England and Wales in the afternoon, but still some showers in the west. Rain lasting into the evening across southeast England and through central Scotland. Some sunny spells for eastern Ireland but squally showers in the west. Gales in Ireland to with some strong winds across England and Wales. Highs at 11C in southern England, 7C in northern Scotland.

Thursday
Rain clears the southeast as low pressure racks northern of Scotland. Frequent heavy, blustery showers in northern and western Scotland, these blowing through northwest England and western Wales too. The showers could be thundery at times with some of them wintry, especially on hills. Windy with gales in many areas, mostly northern England, southern Scotland and Ireland. Tending to be brighter in the east and south. Highs around 6 to 9C.
