High pressure never looks to be too far away in January though with it generally more towards the east we could see a cold easterly wind set up with an increased risk of sleet and snow.

*26/12/22 - 2/1/23*
Trough across the country as lower pressure sits just to the west.
An unsettled week of weather with strengthened winds and rain at times.
Snow over higher ground in the north at times.
A milder south-westerly flow generally though initially a brief colder stint.
One or two frosty nights expected but generally milder temperatures.

*2/1/23 - 8/1/23*
High pressure ridges in more from the near continent this week.
Lower pressure still out in the North Atlantic.
More settled and drier weather across eastern and southern areas of the UK.
Staying mixed across the north and west including much of Ireland.

*9/1/23 - 15/1/23*
High pressure to the east of the UK.
Low pressure in the North Atlantic though not as deep as previous week.
More influence from higher pressure this week.
Tending to be drier, though one or two wet days cannot be ruled out, more so across western Ireland and NW Scotland.
A more south to south-westerly flow likely to be mostly dominant though a cooler easterly may push in at times.

*16/1/23 - 22/1/23*
High pressure ridges in across the country this week.
A predominantly dry week for most.
Mist and fog could be common.
A cooler week with the increased risk of overnight frosts.
