Chilly winds
Showers, hill snow

Sunday
Chilly easterly winds affect the country. Often dry in the south of England, broken cloud and some sun. Showers locally frequent over northern England and the Scottish Borders, falling as snow over the Pennines. A cluster of showers may extend further westwards for a time into Wales. Snow flurries are likely over the eastern Scottish Highlands. Drier further west with some sunshine in western Scotland. Highs 4 to 7C, but feeling colder in the wind.

Sunday night
Further showers will feed in across the east and northeast overnight, with snow still mostly confined over higher hills. Local showers in the south near to coasts. Largely dry across central-southern England and Wales. Also dry in western Scotland. A few showers for coastal areas of Northern Ireland. Variable cloud and staying quite breezy. Lowest temperatures 2 or 3C for many, but in shelter under clearer skies, frost is likely with lows dipping below freezing rurally.

Monday
A cold east to north-east wind prevails for the start of the week with showers pushing across the country from east to west. There will be some developing sunny spells, best of these across western areas. It is expected to feel cold and particularly chilly where exposed to the wind. Into the evening and night rain and hill snow pushes south across Scotland, perhaps falling as snow to lower elevations in northern areas. Highs 4 to 7C.

Tuesday
Chilly northeasterly winds affect the country. Dry and bright for many central, southern and western regions of Britain, also Northern Ireland. Showers for eastern coastal districts of England and Scotland, falling as snow over higher ground, perhaps sleet even to lower elevations. More substantial snow possible around the Cairngorms. A few showers may graze southern coastlines too. Highs 3 to 7C.
