Showers this afternoon, a few of them heavy, then rain tonight

Cloudy skies for much of the British Isles to start this morning. There are a few spots of drizzle on hills, but mostly it is dry. There will be some sunny spells in southern England. A few bits of drizzle through the morning drifting into northwest Ireland and western Scotland. Light winds for all.

Some showers may form through this morning and early afternoon across much of central, western and southern England and eastern Wales. More persistent rain could reach western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Patchy drizzle too in northern England. Drier in southern parts of Ireland.
