Scattered showers, some heavy with perhaps thundery

In the morning, scattered showers will move northwards up the country, some heavy with the risk of thunderstorms. Where the showers don't affect it will be dry with sunny intervals and feeling humid.

In the afternoon, the showers could become more widspread across northern and central England, Wales and southern Scotland, again falling heavy in places with the risk of thunder and lightning. More showers push into southern English counties by evening. Temperatures will heat up, particularly in the south where it will be sunny.

Overnight, showers in the south quickly merge into longer spells of rain and push northwards across central areas, Wales and Ireland before clearing here and moving into northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland by dawn. Rain is likely to be heavy for many with the risk of thunder and lightning.
