Cool, showery, plenty of cloud

Plenty of cloud around to start this morning, although a few bright spells in southern and western England and Wales. Low pressure over Scotland is bringing some showers, most in the the north and west. As the morning progresses the showers become more widespread in Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, a chance of some heavier showers too in southwest England.

A cool afternoon ahead. Th highest risk of showers is across central southern England, the eastern Midlands and then into east Anglia and the southeast. Further showers for northern England and southern Ireland as well as Scotland. and west Wales.

Overnight there will be further coud across the northern half of the UK and Ireland. Showers affecting many western coasts, some rain in Northern Ireland. A few showers in east Anglia and southeast England but drier elsewhere.
