Morning Call - May 23, 2021
Rain and showers
Strengthening winds

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 23rd May 2021
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Unsettled with rain, heavy for a time, then sunny spells and showers. Strengthening winds too.

The morning will see a band of rain push across Ireland, Northern Ireland and into western parts of Scotland, England and Wales, likely to see patchy lighter rain ahead of the heavier band. Far eastern areas of England and much of Scotland should remain largely dry but cloudy. Behind the rain across Ireland and Northern Ireland expect sunny spells and showers. Winds strengthening, particularly across England and Wales.

The afternoon will see rain continue tracking eastwards across the UK with far eastern areas and northern Scotland staying largely dry into the evening. Heavy spells of rain for western areas including Wales. Sunny spells and showers across Northern Ireland and Ireland.

The heavier band of rain will eventually reach far eastern regions of the country overnight. Once the rain passes east expect much of England to see clear spells develop and largely dry conditions, although Wales and western parts of England and Ireland will see showers, these heavy and prolonged, at times. Scotland will see rain push north with drier conditions to follow. A few scattered showers across Northern Ireland but largely dry here with clear spells.
