Heavy showers in west
Drier east

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 12th May 2021
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Showers, heaviest in the west, drier to the east

Rain and showers in Scotland this morning, some of them heavy. The showers are likely to be continuing into this afternoon. Bright spells for many and dry to start this morning, but some showers will be quickly developing over southwest England and Wales. These then edging northwards into the afternoon, afecting much of southern England.

Showery bands of rain also affecting Ireland through the day. An area of rain to the south, a further areas of rain to the north, perhaps dry in-between. The best of the drier weather this afternoon in the east of England where there will be good spells of sunshine too.

Rain overnight through Wales, central and southern England. This could be heavy and thundery at times. Drier for northern England and most of Scotland, although there will be showers in the northwest.
