Heavy showers and or longer spells of rain with possible thunder and lightning.

This morning, heavy showers or longer spells of rain affecting southern parts of England as well as Wales. Sunny spells and scattered showers across the rest of Wales and England as well as across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Some showers affecting western and northern parts of Scotland but drier elsewhere here.

This afternoon, heavy showers or longer spells of rain continue to affect southern into central areas of England including south and east Wales. Watch for possible thunder and lightning and some localised flooding to these parts. Heavy showers or rain affecting eastern areas of Ireland also. Heavy showers for western parts of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland in particular, while sunny spells and a scattering of lighter showers elsewhere.

Heavy showers or longer spells of rain continue across south and east Wales as well as south and southwest England overnight. Showers look to clear towards the west across the rest of England with mostly dry conditions expected for Scotland as showers clear here. Clear skies and plenty of dry conditions across Ireland and Northern Ireland but showers pushing in here towards dawn.
