Sunny spells, scattered showers

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 22nd September 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Unsettled conditions spread from the southwest across the UK and Ireland today. Staying dry to the far northeast.

Good morning,

A band of heavy rain spreads across the northern half of the island of Ireland, Wales and western England this morning with showers, some of them heavy, following to the southwest. Staying drier and brighter to the north and east.

Heavy rain continues to edge northeastward this afternoon across much of England and over the southwestern half of Scotland. Heavy, sometimes thundery, showers continue to affect eastern Ireland, Wales and much of southern England. High temperatures at 16 to 23C with the warmest areas in the east of England.

Through the evening the heaviest rain becomes confined to western, central and southern Scotland and the northern part of England. Showery rain may persist further south for western coastal areas. A bright end to the day across Ireland.

Have a good day!
Claire
