Low pressure brings further outbreaks of rain to Ireland and central and southern parts of the UK on Monday. These are followed by scattered showers to the west.
Good morning,
The British Isles are sandwiched between two areas of low pressure first thing on Monday bringing a dry and bright start to the day for many. A few showers over northeastern parts of Scotland and eastern parts of England through the morning. Outbreaks of rain and gusty winds to the southwest of Ireland first thing spreading across much of Ireland, Wales and western England through the morning.
Outbreaks of heavy rain and strong winds continue to spread eastward across Wales and England through the afternoon and into Northern Ireland and southern Scotland later. Showers edge southward across Scotland through the afternoon to leave drier conditions to the north. Showers move into Ireland later too, particularly western areas. High temperatures at just 9 or 10C in northern Scotland as colder air sinks south; 12 to 17C elsewhere across the UK and Ireland.
Rain continues to spread to the east through this evening though will persist for Northern Ireland, northern and eastern England and southern Scotland. Showers continue to affect western parts of Ireland as well as western Wales and southwest England.
Have a good day! Claire
