Staying cold with severe frosts, very cold days and a few snow showers

Very cold weather remains for the coming days. Severe overnight frosts will be followed by days with temperatures hovering around freezing. There will be some snow showers too, mostly in the west, north and east.

Monday 12/12/22
Another cold day on Monday with wintry showers in Northern Ireland, northern Scotland as well as through parts of SE Ireland, south Wales and perhaps SW England. Eastern coasts of England could see a few snow showers too. Elsewhere sunny spells and mostly dry. Winds are also expected to start to strengthen across the far southwest later. Highs at just 1 to 3C but 6C in the far southwest.

Tuesday 13/12/22
Another cold day with a hard frost for much of the day. A front pushes northwards across the Channel and could bring some rain, possible sleet and snow, to southern Ireland, southwest England and south Wales. Strengthened winds too. Wintry showers affecting northeast Scotland and eastern England as well as Northern Ireland. Mostly dry elsewhere with sunny spells. Highs at 1C in Scotland, 3C in southern England.

Wednesday 14/12/22
The winds turning more northerly through Wednesday. This brings snow showers along western, northern and eastern coasts. Sunny spells elsewhere, although staying cold. Highs at 1 to 3C.

Thursday 15/12/22
An area of more persistent snow showers may affect Scotland on Thursday. Scattered snow showers for western and eastern coasts, but mostly dry in central and southern areas. Remaining cold with a severe frost and highs at 1 to 3C.

Friday 16/12/22
Low pressure drifting close to Ireland on Friday. Snow showers in the north and west, most of them in Ireland. Drier central and eastern areas. Very cold for all with another widespread frost. Highs at 1 to 3C.

Saturday 17/12/10/22
Low pressure bringing some snow showers on Saturday. Most are likely to be in more western and northern areas. Sunny spells and mainly dry elsewhere. Highs at 1 to 4C.
