Feeling cold with risk of wintry showers

A cold easterly wind will pick up heading into the weekend making it feel bitterly cold where exposed. Frosty starts and showers and or rain turning increasingly wintry heading into next week.

Sunday 4/12/22
Staying cold and breezy on Sunday. There will be cloud with some frequent showers of rain down eastern counties, sleet and perhaps some snow across the hills too. Drier and brighter further west. Highs at 3 to 6C.

 
 
 

Monday 5/12/22
The cold east to northeast wind prevails on Monday bringing more cloud, rain, sleet and some possible snow to the east. Tending to be drier in the west and brighter here too though some showers are likely to reach western areas and on across Northern Ireland. Highs at 4 to 6C.

Tuesday 6/12/22
A similar cold easterly flow continues on Tuesday with a frosty start expected nationwide. Wintry showers continue to push on to eastern areas moving westwards. Meanwhile, a strengthening wind further south will bring increasing cloud here and the risk of some showery rain. Highs at 4 to 7C.

Wednesday 7/12/22
Winds turn north to north-easterly by midweek with the increased liklihood of frequent showers turning to snow across northern Scotland with the risk of sleet and snow down some eastern Scottish and English counties. Largely dry and bright elsewhere. Highs at 3 to 6C.

Thursday 8/12/22
After a widespread hard frost it will be a cold day and feeling bitterly cold in the wind that is blowing through. Rain, sleet and snow showers still to be expected over northern and eastern coasts and hills. Highs struggling above 1 to 4C.

Friday 9/12/22
Another hard frost to start the day for some. Mostly dry though cold day within a northerly wind. Some scattered showers about, these likely to fall wintry. Highs struggling in the north again 1 to 4C here, while slightly milder air moves in to the far south 5 to 8C here.
