An Atlantic milder, wetter and windier pattern from Sunday
Expecting a shift in the weather pattern through this weekend into a more Atlantic flow which will bring wetter, windier and milder weather for most. Next week continues unsettled though there is the risk for colder air to move back in across the north while the south stays reasonably mild on the run up to Christmas.

Monday 19/12/22 Low pressure to the west of Scotland on Monday which sees an unsettled day for all. A strong southwest wind with gales at times. Spells of heavy rain across southern England in the morning easing back with flooding becoming an increased risk here. Frequent showers, some merging into longer spells of rain across western areas, more persistent rainfall through western Scotland. Tending to be drier and brighter further east. A significantly milder day for all with highs at 10 to 14C.
Tuesday 20/12/22 Staying windy on Tuesday with no new frost development expected first thing. Gales persisting in the north and west. Some blustery showers affecting western coasts and hills, dry for most. Rain gradually clearing SE England. A cooler day with the precipitation falling as sleet and possible snow over higher ground in the north, though temperatures still at a relatively mild Highs at 7 to 12C.
Wednesday 21/12/22 A northwesterly flow through the country on Wednesday. Feeling cold in the brisk wind. Some places seeing a touch of frost first thing in the north. Precipitation moving in increasingly as snow to northern Scotland where winds will be gale force and blustery. Rain showers down Irish Sea coasts. Dry with sunshine elsehwere. Highs at a cooler 5 to 10C.
Thursday 22/12/22 Overnight rain will have largely cleared by the start of the day though still wet with patchy rain through southern Scotland. Likely to stay mostly cloudy with more rain expected to push in across Wales and southwest England later. Highs at 4 to 12C.
Friday 23/12/22 A frosty start across Scotland on Friday with some mist and fog patches also about, though alargely dry day here. Cloudier with outbreaks of rain yet staying reasonably mild across England and Wales. Highs at a cold 1 to 4C in the north, 6 to 12C further south.
Christmas Eve 24/12/22 Another frosty start to much of Scotland with mostly dry conditions. Milder and cloudier further south with outbreaks of rain and at times blustery winds. Highs at a cold 1 to 4C across Scotland into northern England, 6 to 11C further south.
