Mixed weather conditions in the coming days

Mixed conditions are expected through the coming days as Atlantic low pressure systems and their associated fronts sweep across the country bringing rain and wind at times. Behind the cold fronts expect a drop in temperatures too with overnight frosts forecast for later next week.

Monday 23/11/20
A cloudy and wet start across southwestern parts of England before rain clears to the east allowing for drier and brighter conditions behind. Meanwhile, further north, it will be a largely dry but cloudy day for eastern parts of Ireland, Scotland and northern England but cloud and rain will push into western and central areas through the day. Winds will also increase here. Highs at 7 to 12C.


Tuesday 24/11/20
A cold front edges southeastward over the country on Tuesday bringing cloud and rain across southeast Ireland, England and Wales. The far southeast of England should stay dry. Behind the front showers will affect western areas. Drier with some spells of sunshine further east. Breezy to start but winds should ease through the day. High temperatures at 7 to 13C.

 


Wednesday 25/11/20
A weak trough moves across the region from the northwest on Wednesday. This brings a rather mixed day with patchy outbreaks of rain and good spells of sunshine. Latest forecasts show much of the rain to the west and drier, brighter conditions to the east. Becoming windy to the west and south. High temperatures at 5 to 9C.

Thursday 26/11/20
A frosty start across Scotland and northern England as a transient ridge of high pressure builds over the UK. Low pressure moves in from the west once more later. Staying dry for most of the day across much of Great Britain but becoming increasingly cloudy here. Rain spreads across Ireland and Northern Ireland during the afternoon. Highs of 5 to 9C.

Friday 27/11/20
Rain clears eastern areas on Friday morning with drier, brighter conditions behind extending across the UK and Ireland. Brisk westerly winds will bring frequent, blustery showers to western coasts and hills. Temperatures around 6 to 10C.

Saturday 28/11/20
Low pressure arrives from the west once more sending rain-bearing fronts across Ireland and the UK. Brighter conditions follow to the west but with frequent, blustery showers here. Windy with highs ranging from 5 to 10C.
