Some milder days ahead but turning colder in the north later

Mixed to unsettled weather ahead with rain, heavy at times, and strong to gale force winds on some days. High pressure does always stay close by so there will be some drier periods. The north will get colder later next week with some frosty mornings expected as well as snow over the hills.

Tuesday 17/11/20
A windy day for all. Outbreaks of rain affect Scotland where they will be locally heavy to the west. Patchy light rain affects Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and western parts of England. Heavier rain spreads into Ireland and Northern Ireland later. A mostly cloudy but dry day for central and eastern parts of England. Mild too with maximum temperatures between 11 and 14C.

Wednesday 18/11/20
Another windy day on Wednesday but feeling cooler for all. A band of rain spreads from west to east across the British Isles with brighter conditions following later for Ireland and western parts of the UK though there will still be scope for blustery showers here. Rain clears the far southeast of England through the evening. High temperatures between 7 and 11C.

Thursday 19/11/20
A much colder northwest to northerly flow develops across the UK and Ireland as low pressure moves to the east. Patchy outbreaks of rain and showers spread southeastward across the country. These will fall as sleet and snow over higher ground in Scotland. There will be good spells of sunshine between the showers and winds will gradually ease from the west. Highs at 6 to 10C.

Friday 20/11/20
A frosty but dry and bright start for much of the UK on Friday. Cloudier but slightly milder over Ireland. A few showers linger over eastern coasts of England and Scotland but otherwise a dry, cold and sunny day for the UK. Cloudier over Ireland with rain spreading into the southwest later. High temperatures range from a cold 3C in the north to a milder 10C in the south.

Saturday 21/11/20
High pressure gets squeezed to the southeast on Saturday as low pressure sends a band of persistent rain across Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and western parts of England through the day. This will fall as snow over higher ground in Scotland and the north of England. Rain spreads into eastern England through the evening. Highs at 5 to 7C in the north and west; 8 to 14C in the south and east.

Sunday 22/11/20
Rain clears eastern Scotland through the morning but lingers over eastern England for much of the day. This could be locally heavy over East Anglia and the Home Counties. A dry and mostly fine day for Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland though rain arrives over western Ireland later. Highs range from 3 to 10C.
