Cool and unsettled, windy and wet weather ahead

The weather is set to stay very unsettled in the wek ahead. Strong winds will be blowing rain and showers through all parts of the UK and Ireland. The rain could be heavy at times in western and northern areas. A risk of some wintry showers on hills in Wales, northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Little change is expected next week.

Sunday 10/3/19
Another mixed day on Sunday. Low pressure is going to be close to northwest Scotland with a west to northwest wind affecting most areas. There will be cloud and showers at times, most in the west where they could be heavy. Snow over the hills of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Some showers making it eastwards, but generally fewer showers here. The risk of cloud and some patchy rain moving through far southern counties of England. Highs at 5 to 11C.

Monday 11/3/19
Low pressure to the northwest of Scotland bringing cloud, wind and rain into Ireland and much of the west of the UK. This passes east during the day, although eastern and southern areas are likely to be seeing no more than a few spots of drizzle. A risk of snow over the Scottish Highlands. Becoming windier here as well. Highs at 6 to 12C.
 

Tuesday 12/3/19
Fronts pass east through Tuesday taking rain with them. Strong winds too with a risk of gales. Turning more showery in the west later. Snow may affect the hills of northern England and Scotland. Highs at 5 to 8C.

 
 
 

Wednesday 13/3/19
Unsettled again on Wednesday. The westerly flow brings frequent showers or longer spells of rain. It remains windy. Most of the rain and showers in the west. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Thursday 14/3/19
Rain in Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland and northern England on Thursday as low pressure passes east. It may be drier in the south of the UK but is likely to be breezy. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Friday 15/3/19
More unsettled weather on Friday. Rain and showers affecting most areas. Breezy and becoming cooler in the north. A risk fos some sleet and snow over northern hills. Highs at 4 to 10C.
