Low pressure dominates bringing unsettled conditions to the UK an Ireland

Low pressure dominates the weather conditions affecting the UK and Ireland over the coming week bringing period of very wet and windy weather at times. Temperatures will be slightly below average for the time of year.

Wednesday 06/03/19
An area of low pressure moves from the southwest across the southern half of the UK on Wednesday bringing heavy rain and strong winds to southern Ireland, Wales, England, and, later in the evening, to southern Scotland. Some very heavy rainfall is expected along the English Channel coast. Higher ground in the north of England and southern half of Scotland will likely see some snow. Winds will gust at gale force, or stronger, across the southern half of the UK and Ireland. Drier, brighter and calmer in northwestern Scotland, wintry showers in the northeast. Highs at 6 to 12C, though 13C or 14C is possible in the southeast.


Thursday 07/03/19
Low pressure moves to the east on Thursday while high pressure builds to the west bringing the UK and Ireland into a north to northeasterly air flow. Rain will linger over eastern parts of England, where winds will be near gale force along the coast, while eastern parts of Scotland could see some wintry showers. Elsewhere will be mostly bright with some scattered showers. Feeling cool in the northerly winds with highs at 5 to 10C.


Friday 08/03/19
High pressure stays over the UK through Friday morning before another low pressure system arrives from the Atlantic. This will bring rain to western fringes of Ireland through the morning which will spread to Scotland, Wales and northwest England through the late afternoon. This will likely fall as snow over higher ground in Scotland and the north of England. A windy day for the northern half of the country. Highs at 6 to 10C.


Saturday 09/03/19
Saturday will start mostly dry and bright as high pressure briefly builds once more before another low pressure system arrives from the west bringing rain and very strong winds to Ireland and Northern Ireland through the afternoon. A cloudy afternoon for England, Scotland and Wales with some showers for western areas through the evening. High temperatures at 8 to 14C.


Sunday 10/03/19
A cool westerly airflow dominates on Sunday. It will be another very windy day with snow over higher ground across the country and rain for Ireland, Wales and western parts of England. Dry and bright for northeastern parts of England and Scotland. High temperatures at 4 to 10C.

Monday 11/03/19
A strong westerly airflow continues on Monday bringing wintry showers to western areas. Drier and bright in the east. Staying very windy across the country. High temperatures at 6 to 10C.
