Unsettled, wet and windy with rain being heavy at times

Remaining unsettled throughout this week. The jet stream will be blowing low pressure areas eastwards bringing periods of rain and strong winds. Temperatures will be cool in the wind. Although there will be an occasional fair day, most days will see rain of some kind in most areas.

Monday 11/3/19
The westerly flow continues on Monday as a shallow area of low pressure crosses northern Scotland. This brings showers and rain with it, some of it heavy, although these should fade. Most of England, Wales and Ireland should be drier and brighter as a ridge of high pressure builds, although there is a risk of some showers in northwest England. The best of any sunshine to the south. Highs at 6 to 10C.

Tuesday 12/3/19
Fronts pass east through Tuesday taking rain with them. Strong winds too with a risk of gales. Turning more showery in the west later. Snow may affect the hills of northern England and Scotland. Highs at 5 to 8C.

 
 
 

Wednesday 13/3/19
Low pressure is expected to be over the south of the UK on Wednesday. This brings showery conditions with the risk of more persistent rain in the east and south. Drier in the north and west. Windy for some too. Highs at 5 to 10C.

 
 
 

Thursday 14/3/19
Rain in Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland on Thursday as fronts push eastwards. It may be windy here too. Drier to the south with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. Highs at 6 to 12C.

Friday 15/3/19
Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Friday. Fronts will be bringing rain through many areas, followed by sunshine and showers to the north, some of them wintry on hills. Highs at 4 to 10C.

Saturday 16/3/19
A cool day with a mix of sunshine and showers. The northwest wind will be bringing most showers to northern and western coasts and hills. Highs at 5 to 10C.
