High pressure brings settled, dry and bright conditions to most of the country this week

Through this working week, an area of high pressure brings mostly dry, bright and settled conditions to the UK and Ireland. There are hints of this pattern breaking down by next weekend and the return of more unsettled weather conditions.

Wednesday 27/03/19
High pressure is centred over the Irish Sea on Wednesday. There may be a few early morning mist or fog patches around and it will be a chilly start, particularly in the south. This will be followed by more dry weather with good spells of sunshine. Northern areas will be cloudier with a few spots of rain for western and northern parts of Scotland. High temperatures at 10 to 15C.

Thursday 28/03/19
Pressure stays high on Thursday which allows for plenty of dry weather and sunny spells. Early morning mist and fog patches will continue to be a risk. Western and northern coasts may remain rather murky through the day but it will be bright with good spells of sunshine for most. Highs at 11 to 17C.

Friday 29/03/19
High pressure shifts to the southeast on Friday allowing a front to bring thicker cloud and light rain to northwestern parts of Scotland and Ireland. Staying mostly bright, dry and mild for England, Wales and southeastern parts of Ireland and Scotland. High temperatures at 11 to 18C.

Saturday 30/03/19
Low pressure to the north on Saturday sends fronts southeastward across the UK and Ireland which will bring light, patchy rain to northern parts of the UK and Ireland. This may fall as snow over the mountains of Scotland. Staying dry in the southeast but clouding over later in the day. High temperatures at 7 to 16C.

Sunday 31/03/19
A ridge of high pressure tries to reestablish over the UK and Ireland on Sunday. This brings a mostly settled day. Cloudy in the north, brighter in the south. Rain moving into northwestern areas later. High temperatures at 5 to 10C.

Monday 01/04/19
Monday may be rather windy as high pressure moves to the south and low pressure is located to the north. This brings a westerly airflow with persistent showers for western coasts and hills. Drier and brighter in the south and east. High temperatures at 7 to 12C.
