Rain in west

Friday
A fair start to the day across much of the UK. There will be some good spells of sunshine, perhaps a otuch of frost in more sheltered northern areas. Cloud will be increasing in western Ireland though, and this bringing rain through this morning. The rain edges eastwards, reaching western Scotland and eastern Ireland by lunchtime. Elsewhere it is dry and bright although the sunshine turning hazy to the west. The afternoon sees the rain spreading into most of the west of England, Wales and Scotland, eventually reaching more eastern parts of England by early evening, although it will be very light in East Anglia and the southeast. Some brighter weather, although with a few showers returns to Ireland in the afternoon. Highs at 6 to 11C.

Friday Night
Patchy rain clearing eastern areas of the UK early in the night. For most it should then be generally dry, although rather cloudy. A few spots of drizzle affecting the hills of southern England. Some showers in western Scotland, northwest England and parts of west Wales together with northwest Ireland. Lows at 3C in northern Scotland, 7C in southern England.

Saturday
A westerly flow across the UK and Ireland on Saturday. There will be some cloud early on over East Anglia and the southeast and this could bring some spells of rain with it. This clears to leave brighter weather with broken cloud over much of the eastern and southern UK. Showers in northern and western Ireland and western Scotland, some wintry on hills and continuing for much of the day. A few showers in northern and western Wales too. Thicker cloud and some rain affecting orkney and the far north of Scotland. A breezy day and feeling cold in the wind away fro the south and east. Highs at 14C in southeast England, 5 to 9C for most of the north and west.

Sunday
Another mixed day on Sunday. Low pressure is going to be close to northwest Scotland with a west to northwest wind affecting most areas. There will be cloud and showers at times, most in the west where they could be heavy. Snow over the hills of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Some showers making it eastwards, but generally fewer showers here. The risk of cloud and some patchy rain moving through far southern counties of England. Highs at 10C in southern areas, widely 7 to 9C.
