Feeling mild, some lingering fog
High pressure will often influence the southern half of Britain during the week ahead, maintaining a good deal of dry weather. Some stubborn fog patches. Breezier in the north, with rain at times for western Scotland.

New Year's Day 01/01/20 High pressure to the southeast brings a dry day to many places. Some lingering fog patches in central and southern areas. Strengthening southwesterly winds in the north and west. Some drizzly rain at times for western and northern Scotland. Highs at 5 to 10C.
Thursday 02/01/20 Brisk southwesterly winds for all. Fairly mild and dry overall for England and Wales. A cold front moves into Scotland and Ireland with rain turning heavy at times. Some rain spreads into northwest England & Wales later. Highs at 6 to 11C.
Friday 03/01/20 A fragmenting area of rain pushes south across Britain on brisk northwesterly winds. Cooler with showers for many, these wintry over Scottish hills. Highs widely at 3 to 8C, 10 to 12C for south-central and southeast England.
Saturday 04/01/20 Pressure builds again across the south. Some light rain mostly in the northwest. Variable cloud and some fog for central and southern areas. Cooler with highs at 3 to 7C.
Sunday 05/01/20 High pressure stays to the south, with some fog for southern England. A brisk southwesterly wind brings rain to western Scotland. High temperatures of 5 to 10C.
Monday 06/01/20 High pressure may get squeezed to the south bringing brisk westerly winds. Dry but cloudy to the south. Outbreaks of rain to the north and northwest. Highs of 6 to 8C.
