Changeable with wind and rain, turning milder for a time then cooler next week

A changeable week ahead. Low pressure will be bringing strong winds and periods of rain through this weekend, before turning cooler into the beginning of next week. Rain may return for a time before indications of a colder snap starting towards the end of this forecast period, lasting for a few days.

Tuesday 10/12/19
Wet and very windy as fronts pass east through the country. There could briefly be snow over the high ground of Scotland. Turning milder for a time. Brighter conditions follow later to the west with frequent showers for coastal areas. High temperatures at 9 to 13C for most areas, 7 or 8C for western Ireland.

Wednesday 11/12/19
Low pressure brings another very windy day with frequent showers, some wintry, affecting western coasts and hills. Plenty of good spells of sunshine though, especially to the east where it will generally be drier. Southern parts of England could see heavier showers at times. Feeling chillier with highs at 3 to 8C.
 

Thursday 12/12/19
Another unsettled day on Thursday as low pressure to the north brings very strong winds and frequent outbreaks of heavy rain. Brightening from the west later but with scattered showers here too. Highs at 6 to 10C.

 
 
 

Friday 13/12/19
Low pressure moves east introducing a cooler northwesterly flow across the UK and Ireland. A brighter day with showers for western areas, these wintry over higher ground. Drier to the east. Highs ranging from 4C to 8C.

Saturday 14/12/19
A mixed day on Saturday as westerly winds bring outbreaks of rain and wintry showers to the British Isles. Some good spells of sunshine develop through the afternoon as rain clears to the east. Highs at 3 to 12C.

Sunday 15/12/19
A westerly flow prevails through Sunday bringing another mixed day of sunny spells and showers. Showers most frequent to the west and southwest and turning wintry over higher groudn to the north. Highs at 3 to 10C.
