A cold start to the week, then turning milder, windier and wetter

Cold for a few days as higher pressure holds over the south of the country. This brings dry weather, but overnight mist and fog too. More unsettled and windy in Scotland with rain at times. It will be turning milder and windier for all at the end of the wek with rain and showers lasting into the weekend.

Thursday 5/12/19
A windy day for all on Thursday as a shallow area of low pressure crosses northern Scotland. This bringing heavy periods of rain into Scotland, northwest England, Wales and parts of Ireland. Drier in eastern and southern parts of England with some bright periods in the far southeast. Gales or severe gales in the north. Highs at a cool 7C in the south, a milder 11C in Scotland.

Friday 6/12/19
A further area of low pressure passes to the north of Scotland on Friday. This brings wind and rain, gales in places. The rain heavy as it passes east. Turning showery and cooler to the west as the rain clears. Highs at 6 to 9C in northern and western areas, 14C in the southeast.
 

Saturday 7/12/19
A ridge of high pressure building on Saturday. Some periods of rain and stronger winds in Ireland and western Scotland. Dry for most with sunny spells. Highs at 3 to 6 in the north and east, but 7 to 10C in the west and south.

 
 
 

Sunday 8/12/19
Low pressure to the north on Sunday with a cooler, westerly flow affecting all areas. Sunshine and mostly dry weather once rain clears east, although some showers over western coasts and hills. Highs at 6 to 10C.

Monday 9/12/19
Low pressure to the east on Monday. A northwest wind brings a mix of sunshine and showers, most of the showers affecting northern and western areas. Highs at 6 to 9C.

Tuesday 10/12/19
Rain affecting western areas on Tuesday, some of it heavy. Drier in the east. Tops at 6 to 10C.
