Changeable with wind and rain, turning milder for a time then cooler next week

A changeable week ahead. Low pressure will be bringing strong winds and periods of rain to end this week, before turning cooler into the beginning of next week. Rain may return for a time before indications of a colder snap starting towards the end of this forecast, lasting for a few days.

Saturday 7/12/19
A ridge of high pressure builds on Saturday. This is going to be bringing fairer conditions and lighter winds to start Saturday. There will be sunny spells. A front over western Ireland will be giving rain, and this rain spreads east during the afternoon to be over much of Scotland, northern England, Wales and southwest England by late afternoon and evening. Becoming windier too. Highs at 7 to 12C.

Sunday 8/12/19
Low pressure to the north on Sunday with a cooler, westerly flow affecting all areas. Sunshine and mostly dry weather once rain clears east, although some showers over the west. Heaviest and most persistent in western and southern Scotland. Highs at 5 to 10C.

 
 
 

Monday 9/12/19
Low pressure is to the east on Monday with a ridge to the west. The resulting northerly flow brings colder weather to all. Showers may affecting northern and eastern coasts, these wintry in places. Drier to the west. A cold day at 2 to 6C.

 
 
 

Tuesday 10/12/19
Wet and windy as fronts pass east through the country. There could briefly be snow over the high ground of Scotland. Turning milder for a time. Highs at 3 to 12C.

Wednesday 11/12/19
Low pressure north of Scotland on Wednesday. A windy day with showers affecting many western, southern and northern coastal areas. Drier in the east. Feeling chillier. A strong west breeze and highs at 3 to 7C.

Thursday 12/12/19
Colder for Thursday as a northerly wind sets in. This brings sunny spells and dry weather for many, but some showers around the coasts. A risk of some rain in the far south. Highs at 2 to 5C.
