Dry & fine to start
Wet & windy later

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 7th December 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A mostly dry and fine start to the day, staying dry for central and eastern parts of England throughout the day in fact. Rain and high winds however spread across Ireland and Scotland reaching western parts of England and Wales through the evening. Gales likely for western coastal areas.

Good morning,

Saturday starts relatively dry across the UK and Ireland. Just the odd isolated shower for western Scotland while showery outbreaks of rain start moving into northwestern Ireland. Through the morning these spread across Northern Ireland reaching western parts of Scotland through the afternoon. Dry elsewhere with the best of any sunny spells for central and southern England.

Rain spreads across Scotland through the afternoon reaching into northwestern England and perhaps north Wales too while a cold front moves into western Ireland bringing heavy, prolonged spells of rain here. Winds picking up from the west too through the afternoon. High temperatures reaching 6 to 12C with the mildest temperatures for western Ireland.

Through Saturday evening, heavy rain continues to spread east across much of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, northwest England, Wales and southwest England. Staying dry for central and eastern England. Winds continue to strengthen too reaching gale force for western coastal areas.

Have a good day!

Claire
