Some fog, generally mild

Monday
A small area of low pressure lies west of Britain. A weak front draped across Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England brings a zone of low cloud and drizzly rain. Scattered showers northern Scotland. Dry across the Midlands, Wales and southern England, some fog. Winds mostly light. Mild at 7 to 11C.
 


Monday Night
A mostly dry night with rain to the east fading. A few light showers for Ireland and perhaps into the far southwest UK by daybreak. A band of cloud moves south leaving clearer skies to the north. Lows at 1 or 2C under clearer skies to the north, 4 to 7C everywhere else.
 


New Year's Eve
A ridge of high pressure builds across Britain. Residual drizzly rain for a time in the south. Winds falling light. Some fog patches. Generally cloudy, some sun breaking through. Dry and calm into the evening. Light rain developing to the northwest later. High temperatures at 4 to 9C.
 


New Year's Day
High pressure to the southeast brings a dry day to many places. Some lingering fog patches in central and southern areas. Strengthening southwesterly winds in the north and west. Some drizzly rain at times for western and northern Scotland. Highs at 5 to 10C.
