Christmas Eve
An area of showery rain passing east through much of Ireland, England and Wales this morning. Some of the showers could be turning heavy, especially in the west. There will be some drier areas with bright or sunny spells. Rather cloudy in much of Scotland, but some showers in western areas. The showers ease this evening to be just affecting western coasts and hills. The northwest breeze increasing later too. Highs at a chilly 5 to 7C across northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, 9 to 12C in southern England and southern Ireland.

Christmas Eve Night
It will be a good night for flying with Father Christmas and his reindeer having a good view of the ground as skies clear. There could be a few showers in northern and western Scotland and they are likely to experience a brisk northwest wind over the whole of the UK and Ireland. Most areas will be dry. Lows at 2 to 6C.
 

Christmas Day
A ridge of high pressure builds for Christmas Day and brings fair weather with good spells of sunshine. There could be a few morning mist and fog patches in southern areas but these will be clearing quickly. Isolated showers in northern and western Scotland, otherwise dry. Cloud may increase by late afternoon in southwest Ireland and southwest England later. Highs at 6 to 8C.

Boxing Day
An area of low pressure passes through Ireland on Boxing Day. This brings rain, some of it heavy. he rain spreads east through the day and it becomes increasingly windy too. There is uncertainty over the timing of the rain, and it may be that eastern England is dry until mid-afternoon. Staying dry too in the far north of Scotland. The rain turs to showers in Wales and southwest England later. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 6C in northern England, but turning much milder in southwest England and Ireland at 11C.
