Drier for most

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 23rd December 2019
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Rain in Scotland but mostly dry with some sunny spells

Good morning,

A breezy start to this morning in central and northern parts of England, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland. A few showers affecting west Wales and northwest England, with a more persistent area of rain central and western Scotland. Better to the south with sunny spells here.

This afternoon sees the showers fading from northern England and the rain easing in much of western Scotland, although always a risk over te Southern Uplands. Drier in the east. Cloud tending to increase again in southern Ireland and southwest England. Temperatures feeling fairly mild in the south. Becoming wetter tonight in Ireland, Wales and southern England. Drier north and east.
