Mixed week ahead before a drier and warmer following weekend perhaps
A mixed week next week with outbreaks of rain and feeling cooler. Rain could be heavy at times earlier in the week, with strengthened winds through midweek. Then high pressure looks to build in from Friday allowing for a largely dry and perhaps warm weekend to come.

Tuesday 24/5/22 By Tuesday the heavier rain in the east first thing soon clears offshore allowing for a brighter day though with scattered showers about, some of these heavy as well as merging in to longer spells of rain over some places. Higher cloud makes skies hazy in the west during the afternoon in advance of the next band of rain approaching overnight. Highs at 14 to 18C.
Wednesday 25/5/22 Outbreaks of rain continue to push eastwards acreoss the country through Wednesday morning before clearing to see drier and brighter weather develop behind, though some scattered showers cannot be ruled out. Winds will be strengthened and blustery, particularly across northern Scotland where they could reach gale force. Highs at 13 to 17C.
Thursday 26/5/22 Higher pressure may build into the south and east on Thursday. This brings a largely dry day with sunny spells, however, by evening spells of rain will affect northwest Ireland and west Scotland. Still a breezy day for many. Highs at 14 to 20C.
Friday 27/5/22 Pressure looks to build more across the country on Friday giving and mostly dry and fine day while seeing any rain gradually clear northwards across Scotland. Mist and fog patches will be around for some to start the day but sunshine is expected to develop with many places turning out to be fine and feeling warmer than of late. Highs at 15 to 22C.
Saturday 28/5/22 High pressure looks to remain the dominant weather feature on Saturday again allowing for mainly dry and fine conditions, though mist and fog patches may develop overnight and first thing in the morning. Highs at a warm 17 to 23C.
Sunday 29/5/22 The high pressure centre sits to the north of Scotland. Another mostly dry and fine day to be had with warm sunshine for many, particularly in the west. Highs at 19C in the east and 25C in the west and across Ireland.
