Weather more mixed and breezy for many next week

High pressure stays close to the near continent next week while lower pressure generally sits to the north and northwest of Scotland. This brings a west to south-westerly flow with brisk winds at times across the country. Rain mainly in the north and west while staying largely dry and warmer in thether south and east.

Tuesday 10/5/22
An area of low pressure moves in closer towards Scotland on Tuesday keeping higher pressure over France. A brisk westerly wind as well as outbreaks of rain progressively affect Northern Ireland, northwest Ireland as well as western and northern regions of Scotland. Meanwhile a weak front bringing cloud and patchy light rain and drizzle continues to push south across England and Wales. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Wednesday 11/5/22
Scattered showers affect western and northern regions of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northwest Ireland including northwest England on Wednesday. Drier with sunny spells across more eastern areas. Meanwhile, a shallow low pushes east across southern Ireland into Wales and central and southern England bringing cloud and rain here. Southeastern areas of England look to stay mainly dry but will cloud over. Highs at 13 to 21C.

Thursday 12/5/22
Low pressure to the north of Scotland while high pressure sits over France on Thursday. A brisk westerly wind flow moves across the country with showers in western areas and drier further east. Showers merging in to longer spells of rain across north and west Scotland. Most places seeing good sunny spells. Highs at 12 to 20C.

Friday 13/5/22
Friday sees some cloud and rain affecting Scotland through the morning, before clearing and seeing a largely dry and fine day for many though showers are expected in the west. Highs at 12 to 20C.

Saturday 14/5/22
A high pressure ridge brings largely dry and fine conditions, though cloud and some patchy rain continue to affect northwestern regions of Scotland. Highs at a warmer 13 to 20C.

Sunday 15/5/22
Possible rain moves up from the southwest across the country on Sunday. Scotland staying mostly dry until later in the day. Sunny spells and some showers develop behind. Highs at a warmer 14 to 22C.
