A cool week and turning increasingly mixed with showers or longer spells of rain

Cool through this weekend and next week. It should be dry with sunny spells, but into next week conditions become more unsettled. Low pressure will be bringing showers and longer periods of rain, a risk of some thundery rain in the south. POssibly turning drier again through southern areas later in the week.

Monday 30/5/22
An area of low pressure settled over Scotland on Monday, affecting all parts of the British Isles. Showers developing through Scotland, northern England, Wales and Ireland, some too in the Midlands and southern England. Drier in East Anglia and southeast England with some sunny spells, although even here there could be a shower. The showers may be heavy and thundery in the north and west. Highs at 12 to 16C.

Tuesday 31/5/22
Low pressure remains on Tuesday. A day of showers, some of them heavy and prolonged, especially over Scotland and northern England as well as arts of Wales. Brighter in east Anglia and southeast England, although there will be showers here too. Highs at 13 to 17C.

Wednesday 1/6/22
Low pressure remains on Wednesday. More showers and a fair amount of cloud through the day. Showers could merge to longer periods of rain in places. A risk of some thundery rain in the south later. Highs at 12 to 18C.

Thursday 2/6/22
Low pressure may be in the North Sea on Thursday, although confidence is low. It is likely to be a mixed day with some rain in Scotland and eastern parts of England. Sunshine and showers for Ireland, Wales and southern England. Highs at 18C in the southeast, 12C in northern Scotland.

Friday 3/6/22
High pressure may try to build to the west of Ireland on Friday. Low pressure remains to the east. A northwest flow brings some further showes to northern and eastern Scotland and eastern England. Drier in western areas with some sunny spells. Highs at 15 to 20C.

Saturday 4/6/22
A front may bring some rain into Scotland on Saturday. Higher pressure elsewhere with sunny spells and dry weather too. The best sunshine to the south. Highs at 15 to 21C.
